Consultation by Phone or Video
If you want professional counseling, but:
- Do not have access to professionals in your area, or have not found therapists in their area helpful,
- Would find it more convenient to discuss matters in the privacy of your home,
- Are agoraphobic (fearful of leaving your home), but still want counseling,
Then consultations with Dr. Mathis by phone or webcam may be an appropriate alternative or supplement.
Telephone Counsultation:
- Either fill out one of the “Phone Consult” forms below, or call (770)-645-1800, ext. 3, telling me your name, your situation, your phone number and why you want a consultation.
- If it appears that the telephone would be an appropriate method for you, Dr. Mathis will contact you to schedule a phone session and arrange payment (if not already made).
Internet Video Counseling:
Internet video counseling is conducted by Cisco WebEx. Some familiarity with computers will be required to receive counseling in this manner.
In general, to take advantage of two-way video conferencing, you will need:
- a web camera — if one is not built into your laptop or tablet, then this may need to be purchased separately.
- a microphone, and speakers or headset — alternately, audio via phone can be used if arranged in advance.
- a high-speed Internet connection — DSL, cable, or higher speeds.
- A computer that meets the minimum system requirements for WebEx conferencing — any computer within the past five years should suffice.
To begin the process of booking a phone or video consultation:

CONFIDENTIALITY DISCLAIMER:
The advantage of remote counseling is that it enables discussion at a great distance — the drawback is that the environment is less “controlled” than a face-to-face visit in an office. While Dr. Mathis will be working to ensure the confidentiality of matters discussed and payment data from his end, any prospective client should be aware that they will ultimately be responsible for ensuring privacy on their end as well. This may include, but not be limited to, finding a private space to have discussion; ensuring that they are successfully logged out of the conferencing website; ensuring they are not “walked in on” while the consultation is ongoing, and other similar concerns. Dr. Mathis cannot and will not be held responsible for privacy breaches that originate from the counseling recipient’s end, either intentionally or unintentionally, and proceeding to book an appointment indicates an acknowledgement of these terms.
